Default 125+ degrees

I never really talk about my freshwater tanks on the forums here.... but here goes. I have a smaller, planted, tank set up for my dwarf puffers with a couple of cories to help clean up after them. All was going well until the heater malfunctioned. ....... I took a look in teh tank last night and found everyone upside down, the puffers were floating and the cories on the substrate. As I reached up to touch the tank I realized it was quite warm, a quick check showed the temp to be over 125 degrees!
The heater is clearly not working properly, I adjusted the knob and it wouldn't change the temperature. It was working fine and hasn't actually been touched in awhile, so I can only imagine that it was the same power surge a few days ago that also blew the little giant pump on my closed loop reef tank. It's so sad when you lose fish.

I wonder if the plants will recover from the heat?
