The 100% silicone I used to seal my tank comes with a 50 year guarantee so I would say it should last quite a while. Silicone does not degrade under UV and will not dry out and crack for many years. If it does end up leaking after the storage period is over, it is not a difficult task to reseal a tank. As long as it is not stored in an extremely hot location you shouldn't have an issue.
