Default Before and After

Well I finally got my first planted tank set up.
Here it is before; fake plants, crap lighting, undergravel filter, etc:

And now; 2 x 36w PC lighting, eco-complete and most importantly plants!

It's no Takashi Amano masterpiece or anything, but it's a start.

Wow, night and day difference, looks awesome. Once you get the heater set to where you can leave it alone, I would put it horizontally right on the bottom, behind the driftwood. That way you will barely be able to see it. A dark background would also look great I think, you can use black cloth or construction paper to do it on the cheap. Depends on what you like. Looks great though.

It looks great. I agree that adding a background will help a lot.

Much better.

Maybe think about packing in some more plants. More ferns for the wood and more of the stems (cabomba and moneywort?) to fill it out a bit.

This is something that Im trying to accomplish as well- by making my tank more natural looking.

I just removed all my fake plants today and put in 2 Java Fenrs and 4 medium sized grassy looking(taller) plants that I forget the name of. I still have the 2 artificial log/stump in there with a fake flower/plant attached to it that I am planning to get rid of once I find a piece of wood and/or some rocks that I like. Im also going to redo my gravel so its more natural looking, maybe some brown n black mix.

Anyways great job so far! i'll be sure to get some pics of mine up once I get it done, although its only a 10 gallon so it wont be too elaborate.
