Default scaredy cats

I have 2 cory's in my 29 gallon tank. There were 4, but one got injured some how, and the injury was infected with fungus. I didn't even know it had happened because they are always hiding behind some plants at the back of the tank. They used to be quite active, always roaming around for food like corys do, but not lately. I was thinking that it might be because there aren't enough of them. Any other ideas?

My tank: 29 gallons
3 cory's
1 oto
5 swordtails.
6 lemon tetras
4 zebra danios
pH ~7.1
dGH 5-6
Ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate <10 ppm
moderate planting

I would like to add a few more to see if that would help, but I think my tank is pretty much full.

They definitely prefer to school. More of them might give them more confidence to get out and about.

The reduction in numbers most likely caused them to be more skittish. Adding more to the group may help them overcome their shyness.

I had a group of 8 aspidoras until a nasty accident happened. My prefilter sponge somehow came off and three of the aspies got sucked into the power filter. Since then the remaining 5 have been extremely shy and don't school as often or as tightly as they used to. They had always been shy fish, but with 8 they would group closely together and explore the tank more frequently. I'd love to add more of them, if I can ever find more that is. I may have to breed them (which I would like to anyway) to increase their numbers.

Well, I want to try that, but they started to be way more skittish before the one died.
