Default Trying to ID a cory I saw...

I know this is going to be a shot in the dark but I saw a new cory at the LFs this weekend and have no idea what it was. This guy sells good fish so I like going to his store but he puts no real effort into labeling them correctly. He knew it was a cory but that's about it.

Anyway, this is the closest looking pic I could find Maybe?
It did have a more pronounced orange stripe on it's side. I wish I had taken a picture. It was fairly exspensive too, he wanted $15 for it. I was considering it but he only had 1 left. If anyone has any ideas let me know, if not no worries.

Is there a such thing as an Orange Laser Cory?

I've seen that listed on Aquabid but was never sure if it was a real species.
In fact, here it is. Different than what I saw as you might have deduced from my stellar description.

I'm still trying to find a better picture. I had know Idea that there were so many species of cories listed on planetcatfish.

If I recall correctly the orange stripe cory are somewhat related to bronze corys. I might be wrong, but I think so--I did see a cory like the one in the first picture in the photo of the month contest.

This is driving me crazy. I've looked at so many pictures of cories over the last 2 days they all look the same now. I might be going by that store tonight so maybe I can take a picture. Thanks for the links.

Sure it wasn't Orange Laser Cories? They would be fairly expensive. They are related to the Bronze cory (C. aeneus), but have been given their own sp. number (Cw010). Here is the PlanetCatfish page on them: PlanetCatfish::Cat-eLog::Callichthyidae::Corydoras sp(cw010). It doesn't have alot of info, but does have some pictures. There are also Green Laser Cories.

If that wasn't it, look through the Corydoras genus thumbnails at PC: PlanetCatfish::Cat-eLog.

Ok, I'm a sucker. When I went to buy more Panda cories I broke down and bought this guy. Apparently my recolection wasn't very accurate.

Still don't know what he is so I'll open it up to everyone.

It looks nothing like the original link I posted. I'm such a dork. I went through planetcatfish the other day and don't remember one like this this. I'll comb through again later.

Looks like a sterba's cory (corydoras sterbai) to me, and the price is about right for one.

PlanetCatfish::Cat-eLog::Callichthyidae::Corydoras sterbai

This is the kind I want to get and breed when I set up a large aquarium.

Good call. Since I had foooled myself into thinking it looked different I'm sure I passed it up when I was looking. I only have the one but he looked so very lonely in the tank at the store. So right now he gets to hang out with 6 panda cories.

Yep....thats a Sterbai. Cute, but expensive little guys. I'd get him some friends if you can find more.

I might down the road but not at the moment. This LFS seems willing to order stuff. Twice I 've been in there and asked for certain fish that weren't in stock and both times he has said call Wednesday and check. Sure enough come Wednesday he's gotten them for me.

The problem is that the Sterbai's weren't in my plan. Although in theory this is "my tank" my wife is letting me keep it in the living room and she just recently agreed to let me upgrade the 10 to a 20 I feel obligated to let her have some say in the tank. Hence the Sterbai and the marble hatchets she now wants. Even though I'm going to a 20 I already have 6 panda cories and not a whole bunch of room left for 3-5 more Sterbai's. We'll see.

Will your LFS let you swap out the pandas for some sterbai?
