Hello,
A week and 2 days ago my GF got her Mango Pleco which I talked about in my previous thread. As of today, I have been unable to find a single "whole" piece of food consumed... ie. gone. He still lays down little turds everyday, and I toss in a variety of foods for about an hour 3x a day... giving him many chances to come out and eat. But I've found every bit of food I put in when I come to check on him. So far I've tried; *Algae wafers *zuccini soaked in garlic (it was frozen zuccini... so when it thawed it was mushy) *Hikari wafers *shrimp pellets *frozen blood worms I change about 1 gallon of his water, 3-4x a day. He;s in a 6 gallon so that is about 16-17% per change. He's got an eclipse filter running, a cave, and some small decorations from our main tank to promote bacteria growth, although his HQ tank hasn't cycled since I find traces of ammonia if I do not keep up with the above mentioned cleaning schedule... Anyways, he has shown no signs of disease or anything else except on occasion he will develop decently sized pale spots along his sides, which I was told they may be stress spots. I've actually only seen those spots on him one evening. I'm wondering what I need to do to either make him comfortable enough to eat, or what needs to be done for him to identify that the food... is food. How can I change his life choice of starvation! I am fighting off the temptation of putting him in our 90gallon... but on the flip side that tank has nice black sand and caves and cories in it among other things which may act as dither fish and make him feel safer... |

I am going to do a little guessing here and say the ammonia present due the it being an uncycled tank is a part of the problem. The other part is the size of the tank and all the wcs you are having to do. These factors are more than likely stressing the fish and throwing it off its feed, so to speak.

Well;
I could put him into *a 30 gallon tank (uncycled) *a 10 gallon tank (uncycled) *or our regular 90g tank which is cycled of course. or keep him in the current tank to avoid stress and possibly take a piece of driftwood and another bio wheel from the main tank and hope that it rapidly cycles his tank? |
