Default pleco question...

I have recently purchased a clown pleco. I was wondering if he/she will be ok
without any type of wood(drift, bog, etc.) I have diy'd a cave for it, also some nooks and crannies to hide in. The tank is a planted 10(I understand the pleco will outgrow the tank, but I can trade him in). My other thought was a rubberlip, planetcatfish says they are better algea eaters than the clown. Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks

I would be hesitant but I dont think it would work out, some pleco's need the fiber in their diet. I dont know much about the clowns however..

Clown plecos- ie L104, L162, LDA22, need wood in their diet. Its what they eat.

I picked up 3 clown plecos about two months ago for my 75g community. I have a few pieces of wood in there for them. Wood is a main part of their diet. I have rarely seen the eating on the wood but they always come out for NLS pellets I feed the other fish. I have found in my limited experience with them that they arent too picky of eaters. The Rubberlip/Bulldog pleco also need wood in their diet but will munch more on algae but are still not very good algae eaters.

My BN Plecs are almost always found on the wood in my tank. They really love it.

My expierence has been once people have a fish, they fall in love with it and refuse to give it up, even though they know it isn't receiving proper care. I just don't think any type of pleco belongs in a 10 gallon.
