Default some pics of bumblebee gobies

Here's a few pics of my gobies. They are currently in freshwater...I expect to be moving them over to brackish at some point...but as long as they are doing well in this tank I'll keep them here. This species is supposedly more tolerant of fresh water than the 'other' type. I do hope that info I researched is correct. If not I'll set up one of my 2 1/2 tanks as a brackish for them. Probably when they get a little older I'll have to make the switch.

I've had them since Feb this year and they are doing very well....nice coloring, eating like pigs (I feed them live black worms and frozen blood worms)...and they are very active. I have 4 small male endlers in the tank with them.

Thanks !

I'm wondering...does anyone know if endlers can tolerate brackish conditions ? It would be really great if I could just gradually switch THIS tank to brackish instead of setting up another....I have java fern, anubia nana, a moss ball and a small amount of java moss in this tank. Will any of these plants do ok in a brackish tank that's at the low end for salinity ?

Well, I'm not so sure about the plants, but many livebearers (although I'm not specifically sure about endlers) can be acclimated to BW. Be sure to acclimate them slowly.

Yeah, I figure just a little bit at a time until I get the salinity up to the proper level. If I go slow enough...maybe the endlers and plants won't notice......lol....(just kidding !)

Actually, I have a 5 gallon that I'll be ready to change over to brackish before too much longer. I'll probably leave the endlers in the 2 and setup the 5 for the gobies....and get a few more !

I'm not sure about the endlers but I am experimeting with java fern and italian val in low brackish with an SG of 1.004. So far they are holding up ok. Jungle val done quite well for me at that salinity so I'll probably give that a try again. I also so just added a few moss balls and water sprite to the tank but too early to say if they will take.

How much lighting does the val need Reiv ? I saw your brackish in your tank post...VERY nice ! I'm trying to decide if I want to keep the echo-complete or do a sand substrate for that tank. I like the look of your brackish with the sand.

Here's a pic of the tank that they're in. It's a 2 gallon "Explorer" with an in hood biowheel filter setup...Great tank !

Currently, I have my green spotted puffer at SG 1.008. There is a male guppie that was thrown in as food but somehow managed to escape the puffer and befriended him. They sometimes swim side by side, and the guppy seems to be in perfect health.

Hhhmm......something to consider Pat.....

I JUST moved my bumbles into a 5. I haven't started to change over to brackish just yet. I'll wait until they adjust to the new surroundings and then I'll start increasing the salinity a little at a time. That way, the fish AND the plants can adjust all at once.

I have java fern and some small crypts in there right now...with sand mixed with echo-complete for subtrate. Right now I have an ugley fake rock in there...until I find a real rock that I like...OR, I'll try and find a small cluster of barnacles to stick in there, since they like caves. I'll be picking up a few more bumbles too...maybe 5 or 6 total for this tank...OR, if endlers are ok in brackish..I'll add a nice small school of males instead of more bumblebees.

That whisper intank filter is going too..I'll get a small HOB from walmart to replace that with, that way I can just put the media bag into the new filter since they use the same size.

Here's a pic, it's still a bit cloudy from the change over:

Jungle Val (Valisneria americana) apparently is sometimes found in light BW in the wild. It has done better than the other Vals for me in BW, tolerating F-8 levels (1.005-1.008) without slowing down, even in aragonite over RFUG. Just a bit big and vigourous for the tanks used, but it did all too well.

Thanks RT, I'll give some of that a shot if I can find some.

Anyone ever see a bumblebee this color before ?

The one in the second pic needs some fattening up. They chowed down on the blackworms I tossed in there for them....shouldn't take any time at all to put it on him....

That's actually a flattened out moss ball.....makes a pretty cool little ground cover in that little tank.

No tripod J2.....it's a Sony 5.1 cybershot camera. I have the flash turned off and just adjust the ap and shutter speed until the pic in the viewer looks good....lol. (I really have NO skills with this thing....just a very nice camera...)

It helps alot that these fish will just park themselves and stay long enough for me to get a few decent shots in. I just pick the best ones to post here.
