Default 5 gallon brackish...bumblebees

Thought I would post a pic of my little brackish tank...there are 5 bumblebee gobies in there....

It's not really what I'd like as far as the scape goes, but it works for now. I keep the sg at 1.004. They spawn for me fairly regular, but the fry are so tiny...I havn't made a serious attempt to raise them...a few minor efforts is all. One of these days I'll get some vinegar eels and give it a good try though, cute little fish....

Are those sad little crypts in there? I think java ferns tolerate mildly brackish conditions--and I know bolbitis was very tolerant of it in my tanks. Just a thought.

Cute fishies, indeed.

Yeah, they are crypts....I had looked into weither or not they were ok in brackish and the info I read said they were.

They're actually doing fairly well in there, but for the dang diatoms....I hate diatoms !

I'd really like some grassy type plant in there....I think vals are ok in brackish, but they'd have to be small ones...and..anything I want like that probably needs more light than I have available anyway....

Like I said.....lol.....the scape isn't really my ideal for this tank....one of these days I'll get around to sprucing it up and fixing it right...

Java fern is good for brackish--at least I've seen it in John's tanks. It also grows well in lower light.

Java fern has done well for me in light brackish. Jungle val has done quite good also. Widgeon grass is supposedly tolerent of FW to almost full marine.

I couldn’t help but notice what appear to be chopsticks. Perhaps the wasabi is not far?

Anyway I was just doing a little research into bacopa and noticed this little tid bit. “It can even grow in slightly brackish conditions.”

LOL Ergo...so you noticed the chop sticks eh........I use them alot ! They come in handy for doleing out the live blackworms......holding plants down while I try to get them to stay put in the substrate.....(grrr).....feeding my newts....etc etc....couldn't do without them !

I do have one little bunch of java fern over on the right side. It's doing well too, but again......diatoms....

Doll.....I'm glad you enjoy my setups ! I sure do like putting them together...I used to like gardening, until I found this hobby....hehe.....now my creative self is expressed INdoors rather than out. I'm not sure that's always a good thing since I don't really get out much anymore.....
