I took two of the heros severus I got from Jeff Rapps, they had lip locked and actually caressed each other's heads so I thought I might have a pair. They've laid a small holding of eggs, all are tannish right now--their first spawn was typically white and lunch. I took some pix, will post if worthwhile tomorrow--yet another "I've got eggs" thread, but I'm really curious to see if Isolde will mouthbrood them--they are "delayed" mouth brooders. Go figure. If I end up with viable, surviving and growing fry, OG gets first pick!!!! LOL
Next: Rotkeil breeding.

My gold sevs didn't mouthbrood at all when they spawned. They laid eggs on a flat rock then took turns fanning them and chasing the other fish away, the eggs turned to wigglers, then to free-swimming fry, then they all disappeared. I should have tossed them into a growout with a sponge filter when they were wigglers still attached to the rock I guess.

The eggs were breakfast this morning. The fish had fanned and fanned, but they started to lighten in color. Second spawning I've seen since putting them together. These are the Orinoco, the true mouthbreeders. Reckon they'll get it eventually; they're just babies. Like I need more sevs!!! LOL
