Default What is this on my GT?

I had been away for the weekend and I was feeding today and noticed something. His eve seems to have a cotton like growth under it. It looks more like a white/clear styrafoam. Here is a video so you can see.

Looks like some kind of bacterial infection. I'd put it in quarantine and treat with maracyn and maracyn II.

You don't think it could just be some kind of soft tissue damage from aggression?

Yeah, it looked more like an infection to me too. The infection could have been a result of aggression.

The only thing that has me guessing is that water is always pristine. The other thing is that I have never seen a bacterial infection that close to the eye in that form. Looking at it close up almost looks like he caught it on something and tore it open. I have no place to put a 8in Green terror ATM unless I fill up a empty 55g that has been down for a while. I think I will try melafix for a few days on the entire tank and do a few water changes over the next couple days. I guess we will see if that makes any improvements.

Edit: Ok just went and looked while lights have been out for a while. I think it is just a tissue injury. It looks like his eye socket area is ripped compared to the other one. I am going to keep an eye on things.

I thought it could be an injury but when you described it as cotton like that sounds more like a fungus or infection.
