Default My red cap Oranda is no longer red!!!

Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked before.

I got a red cap oranda in May 07, for the first 2 months she was completly white except for a cherry red cap, after 2 months the colour started flaking off her cap and she was completly white. I thought it was probably due to diet, so put her on hikari oranda food with some blood worms every now and again but since then her cap has turned see-through orange, and the rest of her head and the base of her tail have gone orange aswell.
Why is this?

HELP!

It's very common for goldfish to change color as they mature.

could be genetic(i.e. aging and changing color)

but ive seen bronze colored black moors, with great diet lots of carotenoids and good clean water. so what do you do give them sun so they can get a tan before you know it their black again.

Old thread... sorry.

But I have an oranda also. He is a mettalic red. He started out with a black cap and as he grew older he turned all red except the very tips of his white tail.

Very common change.
