Hmmmm . . . seen it now lol. Looks pretty cool, but seems like alot of hose for a small tank, but then alot less stuff than traditional HOB. Get one and give us a review!!!!
Does look effective . .

Yep, bought two actually for a 15gal and 20gal shrimp tank...planted of course. They're simple enough, though a 20 is a little on the large size for them imo. The hoses seem to be (this is my opinion, only had them operating for a few weeks now) fairly cheap plastic. They look like they're able to reduce/lengthen like an accordian but they don't. I cut them to the length I wanted, but you have to make sure you don't cut the end off of the end that goes to the filter as it's a straight run that fits over a nipple. The only other thing I don't like about them is there are two sides of the filter chamber. The second half is reduced further by a perferated stem/tube that the water flows into and up to the impeller. Not really a bid deal, just have to be a little creative with your media choice. A cut to fit sponge with a slit in the center would work great! There is no quick release so you have to disconnect the hoses manually to take the filter anywhere to clean. Again, not a big deal since they're realtively small units anyway.

I ordered this for my son's 5 gallon hex tank. The lid mounted filter quit working and the compartment with the impeller is completely sealed so I can't even try to fix it. He's been running with just an air bubble UGF for a couple weeks now. After a very thorough gravel vac, this filter should help.
I ended up being convinced by the reviews of just how quiet this is. ![]() Thanks for the recommendation. |

This filter has been running flawlessly on my son's well stocked 5 gallon tank for a couple months now. No problems after you get it all put together and running.
It's a little messy to get it started, but seems to be working like a champ. I added a sponge prefilter to the intake, and I haven't even opened the main filter yet; it still looks fairly clean inside. Based on the flow rate I wouldn't recommend this as the only filter on a 10 or 20 gallon tank, but maybe a 10 if you don't use the sponge prefilter. This filter is so whisper quiet you have to lean over it to hear anything. It's silly quiet. |
