I put a new Filter on my 125 gal 4 weeks ago. It has been running flawlessly as I would expect from a workhorse like the Classic 2217. However, I notice the output has diminished to about 1/4 of what it was when I first started it. I completely stripped it down and cleaned it again (I'd just done so Saturday). No blockages anywhere in the system. When I put it back in service it still had the greatly diminished flow. I tore it down again, moved the media, removed sponges, same thing. I broke it down three times last night. I'm at a loss. Anyone run into this before? This is the first problem I've had with any Eheim equipment.

Yes Rich. I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't spin as fast as it did. I completely cleaned the socket, the impeller and the channel. Just can't figure out why it would not spin like it did. I bought it from Big Al's and I really don't want to go through the return process.

Is it possible that the impeller stem (the thing down the center of the magnet) is bent? Also, does the plastic blade piece that actually moves the water look OK? Normally if either of those parts in not right, the filter should make some noise.

This may sound stupid, but if the hoses have been slightly kinked once, they tend to want to stay that way. When this happened to me, the little bit of hose that fits between the filter itself and the first lock valve thingy. I had to use the plastic "dekinkificator" things that you use for the hose that curves over the rim of the tank.

Apparently, I didn't look close enough at the hoses yesterday Susan. I found a slight kink in the return line between the curved support and the spray bar. I got it straightened out and the flow came back up, so I wasn't the only kinky thing in the fish room. Thanks a bunch Susan! And thanks to everyone else who responded.
