Snails

I got snails, I dont know where or how. this is a new tank, all that was moved over was the fish, no plants or anything, Where could they have come from

Ok so the net touched something other than the fish while you were capturing them and collected a hitch hiker. Parthenogenesis does the rest if you are talking about Malaysian trumpet snails.

when I say nothing got transferred I literally mean it, they went from 30 gallon to a 40g drum for 2 days then to a 55G QT for a period of time then to their 110
I bleached solutuioned the net to prevent any transfer of anything and I have a huge snail, about 1.5" or so. I diddnt move over media or filters at all

Is it possible that they were trapped in the larger snail's shell? I know sometimes things and be transfered that way. I don't know if the snails are too small though.

I dont see how it's possible, no snails were moved, the only ones I had came with some nice javamoss and I thought the Disc ate them all, but one which I never saw again so I assume it got eaten too, unless a fish crapped a snail (ouch)

Baby MTS are super small. Lots of times when they first show up its at the surface of the water. Easily coulda been scooped up with a fish. MTS are amazing creatures. The cockroaches of the aquarium world.

impossible though, they were moved from too many tanks and only 1 tank had snails plus my nets are sprayed with a bleach solution to keep it from happening. kinda crazy but this time I dont mind

And what makes you certain that a bleach spay will kill MTS.? They have opercula, trap doors if you will, which they clamp down quite firmly. That is a survival technique fro bad water conditions, or being out of the water - some can and have surived months in dry stored gravel for me. It is also how the survive the snail toxins sold for hobby use - they just withdraw from the world until conditions improve..

I agree. MTS can survive catostrophic conditions. I had them crawl out gravel that had been sitting on the counter, stagnant, barely moist for 2 weeks. One teeny critter, with nothing to compete with would probably be able to grow pretty quickly.

They can and will survive clown loaches, too. Not in great numbers, but if you had MTS in a tank and add loaches, I can guarantee that when you remove the loaches -- even years later -- you will see a huge resurgence of MTS. I'm seeing it in one of my 75gs. Tons of them where there seemed to be none.
