That fish looks seriously angry!

Gorgeous color, though.

You know, you take some of the most dramatic fish photos I have ever seen. You could do one heckuva calendar with some of your pics. I would buy it.

Very nice rally. Do you touch up your pics in pshop, or just post them as-is?

I always do some touch up. Removing particles, adjusting levels, sharpening, etc are all part of the picture IMO. Some do it in the dark room, I do it in the computer. However, the backgrounds are black straight out of the camera. That's not edited other than the contrast and black/ level (and of course removing anything that may be floating, which usually isn't much).
In certain instances I'll remove distractions too. In one of the pix I screwed up a bit, which you might be able to pick out.

Wow! I love the first picture! Actually, I love them all. Do you use an above tank flash? and how do you get the background so black?

Thanks! I use a remote flash above the tank and a small aperture/fast shutter to get the black background. Also, there is no background on the tank and I turn the room lights off.

You leave the tank light on, though, right?

Thanks! Maybe I'll have to look into making a calendar sometime

Yes, but only so the camera can auto focus. It's output is insignificant once the flash fires.

Yeah, if the room AND tank lights are off... how would he see the fish?

Wow. Auto focus would be nice. I mean, we do bows on manual and "wait for it" because most of the time they move to fast for auto focus. Sometimes I get lucky, but usually not.
