what you should have should start with what you are wanting. If you are set on the platies, that's a start. At least you can narrow some of the choices down to compatibility with those. What are your intentions with the tank? Cory catfish are a good choice, look to find around 4-5 of them. you are limited on how many fish you can get (as you've obviously been told looking at your signature) but choices on what to get are rather open right now..
You could add guppies, or mollies, or some other types of fish. Many killifish will go with platies, a dwarf gourami, betta (most of the time) or even some smaller fishes like heterandria formosa, endlers, rasbora's, smaller barb species or even some smaller tetras would probably do find... A smaller pleco like a clown or rubbernose would be good too. decorations? depends on your tastes really. I like planted tanks so I set mine up with live plants, rocks, driftwood and terra cotta pots for caves. Or you can go with the neon fake plants, glow-in-the-dark decorations and pink gravel if that floats your boat. The fish don't really care what it looks like as long as it gives them places to go and hide if they need to. Kyle

18 fish in a 10g tank ???? Not a good idea at all. Maybe the others without any guppies, but I'd stick to a smaller species of Cory. And you will still be pushing the limits when you fish reach adulthood.
