I am the proud new parent to 6 black kuhli loachesz. They are still pretty young but they look happy. I have had the striped variety last year, however, all but 1 didn't make it through the quarantine period and then I gave the lonely one to my dad for his tanks. These guys look really healthy and the guy at the new fish store was saying how these kuhli's seemed to be alot healthier this year then the ones present in the hobby for the last 2 years. zThey are really cool.
I was going to get another zig-zag eels and they had one that was yellow but when I asked them what it's formal name was they didn't know. They even checked their books for me and it didn't say. I decided to wait because I don't want to buy an eels that will eventually reach 3 feet. Has anyone seen these. They are distinctly yellow, not bright but definitely yellow. Pretty cute.

Congrats...I love Kuhlis. I always hear people say how their Kuhlis hide all the time and they never see them. Mine loves to be out and about. Now if I open the lid he'll run and hide but when the food comes out he's like a little torpedo shooting around the tank picking up scraps.

Well, a neighbor friend of mine I had given a pair of rams to....from the first spawn I ever had.........gave me back the male of that pair.
I'd have to go back on my posts at AC about that spawn to find out exactly when that was, but it was in the month of March that they were hatched...I think maybe 2 years ago "??" Anyway......he's the brother to the ram in my avatar.......he's HUGE !! I don't know what she was feeding this guy.....she kept him in a 10 gallon tank with a pleco and some other fish. Maintenance was minimal as she's a very busy person.....all the other fish died except for this guy and an otto. (I took the otto home too) I'll have to post some pics of him after he settles in and his colors come back. He's even bigger than his brother ever got.....almost the size of my angel ! ![]() I booted the pair of balloon rams out of the 29 community and put the big puppy in there. The two balloons are sharing a 20long with another pair of rams for the moment. Just when I'm trying to clear house for that 90....and I take in more fish.... ![]()

Emg, if he is anything like his brother, let me know if you are planning on breeding him because I would be willing to pay for a good pair.

Well, here's a pic I took of him this am. He's colored up some but he's a bit bedraggled. Can't wait to see how he looks after he perks up some.

A few pics to compare the size of that ram to my "Normal" sized blue ram....
![]() and a pic with the angel in it for comparison.......note, the angel is in the "foreground"...the rams are behind it, so appear smaller than they are...... ![]() makes me wish I had kept all 75 plus of the little gems...... ![]()

About a month ago I fed some frozen food to my fish when I woke in the morning I found all 5 of my lemon tetras dead within a few days I lost all 3 of my Kuhlii loaches too. At first I thought something had gone wrong during my w/c but my betta (in another tank) was also a victim. So I am guessing it was something with the food. I cannot remember the brand of food or I would post it. I tossed the entire package
The tank did have survivors. My neon tetras and my lone chocolate kuhlii loach made it through with no obvious ill effects. Yesterday I was moving around some decor in my tank and out swam a little kuhlii. It's a pretty good size so he has to have been around for awhile. I had absolutely no idea that I had this little juvenile in my tank. There are lots of hiding places and lone kuhlii's are usually very shy. It made my day. |

Sorry to hear about the frozen food massacre--it's a shame in this day and age we can't count on quality, especially the prices we pay for food for our critters. Glad the kuhli juvi showed up!!! A miracle baby!!

Yay, someone else who's had kuhli's reproduce in their tank! I too lost fish from frozen food, but it was food I'd popped out of the packaging, and I dumped the last bit of food in the container in. I think it was from the ice crystals that were in the bowl more so than the food.

It may have been something I did, it could have been ice crystals. I just don't know so I tossed the entire pkg.
It went into all 4 of my tanks but only the betta, the loaches, and the lemon tetras were affected. I was actually getting bored with the Lemons but I didn't want them all to die. I would really like to know how old this little one is. I thought at first I was losing my mind. I had only found the bodies of 2 of the loaches so it was possible it was the 3rd whose body I never found but it just looked way too small so I called my daughter in to take a look at it. She agreed it is about half the size of the loaches I had. Then I lifted the log where the other loach always hides and he swam out. In comparison this is definitely NOT one of my original 3 unless fish shrink. He isn't small but nowhere near as big as the other loach and all my loaches were about the same size. It's also possible I have seen the little one before but never really looked closely because they were often out hanging around in the plants and I would usually just catch a glimpse of them. Since late spring my tanks have not had much attention except for water changes and feeding. Life has been busy. |

I had to go to the LFS today to get some phosguard. I don't particularly like this LFS, but its the only game in town that carries the stuff, so oh well. The owner was explaining (or trying) to explain water chemistry. He kept telling the guy that the KH in tap water is so low here, so he needs to add calcium to bring it up. ACK!

Deepest apologies everyone, it appears I've spawned an albino cory wiggler. I've no idea how this happened, and NO!, I do not wish for someone to explain it to me. Ignorance is bliss.

I now have another 10 gallon devoted to Japanese Trapdoor Snails...at least until my package comes today and I have to add something else to my mix.
These are among the dumbest snails I've ever seen--they apparently fall onto their sides and backs with no cares in the world, but the seller laughed as he replied to my e-mail and said that everyone asks the question, but, no, they don't die from not being upright and usually right themselves at night. Good...I thought I was going to have to quit my job and be a full-time snail propper. |

LOL Bud, you never show with the wee ones (so I'm told). It's a cutie pie!! I have a friend who keeps 2 tanks, doesn't do all the proper stuff, but her albino cories breed like rabbits!!! It's amazing.
So, like I need another fish like I need a hole in my head!!!! I decided to get a gold gourami for the 29 at school, since the parrots were too sensitive, and I don't want to risk any of my baby severums. Sheesh. ![]()
