Default Fishy Randomness

So in GCC we have the random thread for all kinds of random thoughts, but I usually have some FISH and TANK related stuff that I want to share. I thought it would be fun to have a thread to share the random stuff our fish do. If you don't want to make a whole thread on the fish, you can post it here!

For instance, my big angelfish pair have spawned! Silly fishie babies are gaurding their eggs with a vigor!

I also think my multis might be producing another batch of babies!

That is random. I read that book, it seemed to advocate keeping fish in small bowls.

well--are you striped or solid color--Cleo is a gold fm and Khali is a silver/marble/gold male cross. They spawned on a red melon leaf. They have raised them to wigglers before.

This could be embarrasing

yep..though their easy to breed and very common, i still have a liking for them, they can be quite quirky and are basic all round great fish in my eyes, i know some people find them...well...boring but i still like the odd 1,2 or 30

Yeah, I think that the rarity of a fish is no indicator of its value or interestingness. I love my angels, even though they are pretty common as far as cichlids are concerned. My angels even like to watch tv with me!

This may just become the place where I post all my random thoughts on my fish, but so be it.

The black worms died, it was a smelly iccky mess--the bathroom will never smell the same. On the bright side I did manage to get all the puffs eating frozen food, which is nicely moved around from a strainer placed under the filter outflow.

The Angels are watching tv with me, I think they want me to change the channel.

Sounds like the worms might have benefitted from more frequent water changes. I'd rinse the whole mess each time I fed--reduced my losses dramatically.

Lincoln can tell time--he comes out just before the tank light goes off.

I still have cherry shrimp larvae...

That is so true og, I didn't rinse them near enough. I'm hoping the puffs will continue to eat different kinds of frozen foods. They are cute little guys, but they hide so much!

After my 44g died, I had to put my peacocks in a tub with filters, media, etc. I lost my most beautiful Taiwan Reef pairs, but it reduced numbers enough that I could pop them into the 55 'til I get this 125g set up. Tons of hidey holes and giant plastic plants to provide cover.

* somehow, someone spawned and I have one tiny peacock baby a little over an inch--mean!! Chased the JD who's about 3-4".

* My severum has taken over as peacekeeper, much needed considering I have a growing p. polleni, who is pretty aggressive. The sev will follow him around (like now) keeping him in line---it's a hoot!!!!

I have baby MTs's for the first time in 5 years. They are in the Columbian ramshorn tank with Crushed coral and Aragonite for substrate. It's awesome to finally see these guys reproduce in my house.

My Amazon swords have gone nuts, I potted nearly 30 small plants last weekend, planted another 15 or so in the grow out tank substrate, and fed the rest to the Ginat ramshorns. Ginat rams are a good outlet for plant scraps. I cannot grow enough duckweed to keep them fed, they eat everything I throw in the tank. I really need to get rid of some of them soon, they are starting to get big finally.

We need to have a Columbus pant swap soon, but I have no free time in the forseeable future.

Dave

Cichids are so fun--there is nothing like seeing teeny cichlids take on much bigger cichlids and win. I see some conflicts between my ram and my nearly full grown angel over food.

Ironically my shellies have some size problems--supposedly the males are bigger then the females, but I must have gotten younger males, because the two males I have are much smaller then the females. It is funny to see the teeniest male shake his stuff to the one fm who has produced fry. Oooh I love my shellies!

I posted at the same time dave did! I've been thinking about all the Columbus folk--it has been a while since I've seen y'all. I hope that besides being busy that everything else is ok!

How long does it take for a common pleco to outgrow a 65?
