Default Whats your favorite FW fish to interact with?

Just wondering what everyones favorite FW fish is to interact with... that is - not your favorite fish to watch from a far, but to actually hang out with and do whatever.

Mine used to be my bumblebee goby; he would swim up and suction cup onto my hand, and I could even make a fist (not squishing him) and he would wriggle from my fingers and stand on my knuckles.

My other, and current fav; is my Blue Paradise fish... I like to make him jump up for flakes, or I will move the flakes over the water and he has to chase my hand down and leap out. Also - if i call all the fish to the top (by tapping) he will get all angry and push everyone away until he thinks the coast is clear so just he can eat... but there is too many fish for him to fight...

Puffers. Hands down. The huge puppy dog eyes, the little cock eyed look they give you. From those I've seen at the stores to those I've owned--remarkable critters.

Yes - I almost forgot them; and my GF loves them too... we spent last week trying to find one online that would sit well in our tank - alas we keep finding brackish guys or guys that would chomp chunks out of my poor dwarf cichlids

My angel fish are great to interact with. We watch tv together in the evenings, they try and bite my fingers, we have discussions over lots of things. They will follow me to the side of the tank where I'm sitting. They have a lot of personality.

I'm with OG and PM - They are the puppies of the tank world. More specifically, the hunter-predators are more personable than the lurkers or the few schoolers. They are highly intelligent and highly responsive, along with being able to distinguish their keeper from other bipeds.

I especially love the dogface puffers. Give them a crayfish to snack on and its amazing how much like dogs they can really look.

My Chinese Perch (Siniperca Chuatsi) is the closest thing to my dog I've ever seen. He'll let you pet him, he'll follow you around. He will ONLY eat if you hand feed him, and he even turns sideways like a dog cocking his head. He's awesome

I'll try to get some recent pictures of him on here.

Edit: here is one I just shot. He is pissed that I moved him from staring at me. I had to shove him over so I could get a picture of his side.

Normally, he has 2 dark spots and a dark vertical bar on the back half of his body.

My goldfish at the moment. He's pretty smart-I've taught him to look for sinking food so that he doesn't gulp too much air; and he's starting to eat from my fingers. He needs a tank mate, though

He's about 18" and VERY strong. This is a normal pic of feeding time:

I'd have to say my blue rams, but it's a tossup between those and the angel.

However, the coolest fw fish I've had were the stappersi shellies. I loved to sit in front of that tank and watch them interact with each other...but they really didn't notice me much, they were too busy worrying about each other...lol.

Good googely moogely, Levi, that's a beast!! What a beautiful action shot!

So, my favorite fish are my severums; even the little baby pair at school respond to me, wagging and talking and playing lovey! My biggest at about 8" will stare up at the veggie clip when he wants lettuce, and if it isn't dark green romaine, he'll shred it little by little until the top of the aquarium is littered with the pieces.

EDIT: I forgot to say that I've never come closer to a puffer than the dwarfs at the lfs; perhaps someday I'll give them a chance. Aaiiyyii, that means another tank!!!

My favorite fish so far was my first Betta. He liked to eat bloodworms out of my hand.

My favorite current fish is my Kuhli who will also eat out of my hand.

My favorite was my first oscar back in the late 70s. He loved to play "catch" with a ping pong ball. I'd toss it in the tank, (open-topped 55g), and he'd knock it back out. He'd play for hours on end if I would. He recognized the ball, too. I could see his eyes track it across the floor. He'd watch me pick it up and when he saw it in my hand he'd go to the top in anticipation of the next throw.
