So I am going on my second year of keeping fish (maybe third?). That far back is a blurr, but anyway, I have found that every year, during the warmer months, I have less of an interest in my aquariums, but as fall approaches, I start to really pay attention to them. Now I know a lot of people are going to say that because its the summer, I get out more and there is more to do blah blah blah, and in the winter I am home more because there isn't as much to do, but I don't think thats the case because I had a lot of free time this summer and spent a lot of it sitting around at home. Maybe its just me. My interests and hobbies come and go like the weather, and frankly the fact I have kept my aquariums this long means it must be a good hobby for me. So basically, I was wondering if anyone else goes through cycles similar to mine?

Yeah I have gone through a lot of interests, gotten all gung-ho about them, and then in 6 months I'm bored and ready to move onto something else. I've been keeping fish for about 12 years, but only seriously for the past 2 or so, but Iu feel the same way, I finally have found something that I do because I really like it rather than someone told me it was cool or I should try it, I guess.

So long summer.....

I wouldn't say I'm seasonal but I do go through ruts where I am less interested. Not sure why but sometimes I get really excited about doing work on my tanks and other times not so much.

Everyone waxes and wanes in their interest and dedication to any hobby. Slight seasonal variations are very common, depending on outside activities and interest.
Long term I have found that I have to radically change what I keep in glass boxes and the way I keep them at least every ~ten years (with a wide +/-), or I lose interest. Did FW, did SW, did BW. Did Anabantids, did Cichlids, did puffers, did catfish, doing schoolers now, and getting more interested in FW inverts currently. Change can be good and refreshing.
