Lost some fish.

So I've been noticing that my darter tetra population has been dwindling. At first I thought maybe they were just hiding in the jungle. Yestereday I found a half dozen dried out fish behind the tank

They were all in close proximity to each other and must have jumped out between the input and outputs from the canister filter.

I really liked those fish and can only find two live ones left. Ok so now I know darter tetras are jumpers even though they are bottom dwellers.

Awe, sorry john!

I am losing one of my mollies, I don't know why. They seemed fine, and then one day I looked in and her tail was tattered and she was thin.

Sorry to hear it Reiv. Seems like certain fish can find any little opening to jump out. I've only had one fish jump out of my tanks. Luckily I was there when it happened and was able to get him back in the tank quickly.

That's a bummer! I have a female betta who jumps--but the hood completely covers the tank and sump, so she just makes it into the sump and is stuck.

Always strange when bottom dwellers jump though--wonder if they move 'upstream' to spawn?

Sorry for your losses, John. It's amazing how they can all jump at the exact same spot. I've lost some of my N. pulcher the same way over the past couple years.

It always s__ks when that happens. Ive lost some of my discus this way. Ive learned to place a piece of eggcrate over the open areas. It may not stop my discus but it sure bothers them when they hit it and seem to not do it again.

I found an otto on the floor one day. It is the only fish I have ever had jump out of my tank. Really annoying as he seemed very healthy. I can't figure out if maybe someone aggressive (flying fox) may have chased him out?

I found my 2 male killifish dried up behind my 29G a couple weeks ago. At least they dry up instead of rotting and stinking to high heaven eh? So far my only jumpers have been killies and a rtbs.
