Thanks. I hope he does, as Tricksterpup turned me onto these fish in the first place, long ago. They're in a 16g tank with an air-driven sponge filter, driftwood, some java fern, and lots of java moss.

I also put some outside in a 35g patio tub with java moss, driftwood, duckweed, and 'lucky bamboo'. I haven't yet actually seen the ones in the tub, though.

If I was forced to go only with live-bearers, I'd go with the Anableps. Google that if you've never heard of it. Pretty cool looking.

I'd have to say my faves are guppies, I had two yellow males when I first set my tank up, and unfortunately lost them due to not cycling my tank first. But the platies and neons made it. I have been wanting to get some least killies, so that may be my next try.

I am glad that I was able to turn you on to them. they are a great little fish. I am setting up a new nano for them. I lost my colony this past spring and I am hoping to get more this fall.
How many do you have in your 16 gallon by the way?

BTW Snakeice,
I managed to find some black mollies from the yucitan pennensula that are at least similar to the black mollies I had as a kid. I could not find the source well enough to be sure they were wild caught fish and not tank raised, but they definatly are not the typical farm raised strains that most of the hobby sees these days. They are coal black, and pretty finny in their actions. They are hardcore algae eaters as you have mentioned, and currently I have four fry swimming around in the tank. Mama is getting ready to have a few more. As the colony grows, I'll cull for the old fashioned characteristics, and I'd say in a few months I might have some up for sale or giveawy. Let me know if you are interested.
I am currently housing them in pretty hard water (I have hardened all of my water anyhow) and that seems to be their main requirement.

Dave

Hmm...I'm actually not sure. They've been reproducing fairly regularly and there is a ton of java moss in the tank.

You mean I have to pick a favorite? I've had mollies, swordtails, platies and endlers. I really like them all.

I don't much care for livebearers of any sort. If I had to pick I would say fantailed guppies because they are so diverse and you can get them in any color you want.

Fancy Guppies, although I do like Mollys, Platys, and Swordtails even if I dont have any anymore. I always used to have ich problems with my mollys. Once I had Swordtails and Platys interbreed.

I should get some mollies...I've never had any, though I have had guppies galore and a few platies. Platies would be my favorite for now. I like their shape. Although they need some blue...
