Default Split fin treatment

Hello again ,

I have been breeding Moscow guppies. I have four gorgeous males who are in an all male tank (except for the one with the female population).

Two of the four have developed split tails. I have been using Melafix to try to help them heal. They don't seem to have a secondary infection as they are just as lively as ever. They eat well.

I do a 50 percent water change once a week. I don't want to lose these guys as they are beautiful - two are purple Moscows and the other two are a cross between purple and green Moscows.

Any suggestions?

Just keep using the melafix and keep up on water changes. Clean water is one of the best remedies. Also feed some food with garlic that will help strengthen their immune system. NLS makes a few pellets with garlic or you can get it at a local fish store to add to your food.

They might be nipping each other, but they could be catching their fins on something--do you have plastic plants? Sometimes they can tear fins--mostly on bettas, but it could happen. Clean water and time is the best bet--but most important is removing the fish from whatever is hurting the fish. Otherwise it will just keep getting torn!
