Default New Additions: Ameca Splendens

Well Yesterday I picked up a couple of pairs of Ameca Splendens aka the Butterfly Goodeid. Very pretty little goodieds. I am hoping these guys will breed for me in my 55 plant tank.

I also picked up some new stock of Endlers , male and females, today as well. What is sad, is that my colony had started to fade and I got some new genes to add to the pool. What I find is sad is that these new guys do not have the color of my original stock; but then again, they can be young males and havent developed the color yet.

One of the bonuses of the A. splendens is that they are a fish that do not eat their fry. So I am looking forward to breeding these guys.

That's awesome tricksterpup! Where did you find those ameca splendens? I have read about them and find them to be one of the the prettiest livebearers.

What has caused your Endler colony to fade? I have read that the parents tend to not eat their fry.

P.S. are these 100% true endlers or guppy hybrids?

I got them at the local fish store. The local Live Bearer expert in the Twin Cities drops all his extras there. He also works at the shop and he also supplied me those endlers. They are true endlers. After awhile you can notice the difference in an endler and a guppy. The males are bulkier in the guppies. From the way he talks, he is also one of the top guys for Goodeids.
