Ok, my green stars actually came out looking better in the picture, lol.
Usually they're bright neon green though rather than just greenish on the tips. They're still growing like crazy though, I'll have to frag more off.

Some hammers and frogspawn, neither all the way out yet, I haven't had them long. They come out a little more each day.

Feather duster that just shed its old tube. He attached himself to a rock, ditched it and is forming a new one. I thought he was dead because I didn't see him for a day but he popped back up luckily.

Xenia. They're actually a bit more purple but they came out looking pink in the pic.

nice corals

does the xenia when stress go all the way down or just to the trunk - that looks like it may be a heteroxenia (not that it matters - just a cool looking colony )

I've never seen them go in. They will close up a little if they get hit with a lot of current, but they're generally out and pulsing even at night. I dripped them for a few hours in my sump before putting them into the tank under the advice of the guy I bought them from and they never even stopped pulsing, just slowed a bit for a day or so, so I don't think I have seen them under actual stress. The tank they came out was pretty much the same salinity and temp as mine also.

The guy I got them from supplies all the frags to the LFS now and seems to be knowledgeable. He just called them pulsing xenia, but I'm sure he would know the scientific name if I asked since he does for all his other frags.

Nice Corals RiverGirl ! Great pics too !

I have some green star polyps that positively GLOW in the dark a beautiful flourescent green color. But......I can't get a pic of them that comes anywhere close to looking like they do to the eye. The two small mats I have are slightly different greens, but both very bright.

The colony I picked up at the meeting is showing a bit more color...but not much....however....it IS a very healthy looking close knit grouping.....looks really cool waving in the current.

montipora capricornus..(it's just a bit lower in the tank than the digi....not as colorful...can't remember if this is a green or orange ??)

blue mushroom, don't know the name and too lazy to look it up

green and red zoanthids....very cool !

both of those montis I got from you Dan......I took a guess as to what kind they were by looking at pics of others.......they look similar to the digi and caps that I've seen on other sites, but if yours aren't caps and digis..these aren't either.

The green digi (?) is from the big one you had in the 120 before the redo....and the cap (?) is from one of the plates you had in there as well. You had a big green and a big orange plate, but I don't remember which one you broke this little frag off from. It does look like it's starting to get more color though, since I changed the bulbs in the light fixture.....I just can't tell yet which....

wow, didnt recognize, my plates both went kaput with my changeover but one was orange and the other bright green... so hard to tell, and looking at it =doing extremely well, but its funny how conditions change growth form, neither of my plates had such tighly packed polyps, although i think i remember giving you the green
here is a pic of the orange - ID done came up with Montipora foliosa:

and here is the green - ID came up with Montipora confusa or mactanensis (i think the latter)

A nice shot of the zoas that I got in the Santa swap, now that they've opened up.....

That tiny little grouping of orange zoas...opened up nicely......

Not sure what these are called, but they look like a stalk of celery....some type of softie/leather I think........

Very nice metalic pink zoas.....

Wonderful coral photos, all. You inspired me to scrape the coralline off the front of the 90 and shoot a few photos.

Branching hammer

Frogspawn

Encrusting green monti

Zoanthids and a reddish Acro millipora

Pink Pocillopora

Multicolor Pocillopora. I don't have the skill to show the color of this coral

Tubipora

Son of Sarcophyton. The parent colony dropped dead a few years ago, but this guy grew from a blob of tissue it had left

Purple-tipped Acro of some sort

Yellow Sinularia

Some Palys

The hair algae of the coral world, Anthelia

Favia, from a large colony hacked to bits with a tile saw

Phyllangia. These guys photograph nicely.

Thanks EMG. I have plenty more types, which leads me to this questions: does anyone find some polyps like Zoanthids are more photogenic then others? I have quite a few up front next to the Watermelons, but they all seem to hide, or just generally take crappy pictures. Whereas the Watermelons are allways shining, and allways ready for a pic. Wierd.

Emg, you are getting quite the collection of zoanthids, aren't you? I have sometimes thought about making an all-zoanthid tank.

No idea about why some of yours aren't being photogenic Aussie Hippie. Sounds like something's bugging them, like too much/little current, flatworms or nudibranchs. How long have you had them?

One more photo of a few frags hijacked by an urchin

LOL Zanz, now I've heard how things stick to those urchins......must be fun to have to pick them all off.....

As far as the zoos go.....when they only cost 5 bucks a plug...why the heck NOT !

He JUST got a big head of BLUE zoanthids and is waiting to see how they do before he starts fragging them out....I told him to keep me in mind !

Oooo....snapped a nice shot of my whatever ya call it mushroom....not sure what species this is, one of the "hairy" variety no doubt.....

I moved this one down to the floor and it's spread out like crazy ! Beautiful greenish color in there...too bad it doesn't show up as nice on the pic.
